Water Rescue Assist in the Delaware River

Thursday, June 23, 2016
On June 19 at 15:06 hours, Station 29 along with Marine units from the Station 18 (Goodwill of New Castle) and Salem County Station 18 (Lower Alloway Creek) were dispatched to assist two (2) disabled jet skiers, in the Delaware River just north of Pea Patch Island. Both Jet Skis were located stuck on a sand bar just north of Pea Patch Island on the New Jersey side of the jetty. Due to the out going tide 18 Marine 1 was the only rescue boat able to assist in removing the Jet Skis from the sand bar. Two children were moved to 29 Marine 1 as their parents assisted the crew of 18 Marine 1 in the recovery of their Jet Skis. Once both Jet Skis were removed from the sand bar, all parties (2 Adults, 2 Children) and their Jet Skis were taken to the Delaware City Boat Ramp by 18 and 29 Marine units. The jet ski owner was then transported via Utility 29 to retrieve his vehicle and trailer at the Augustine Boat Ramp.
